Dr. Johnson has been a professor in the Department of Rangeland Ecology and Management at Oregon State University since 1982. His research examines the spatial behavior and movement of livestock on landscapes and landscape ecology. Dr. Johnson is creating methodologies and software that can be used to monitor and quantify rangeland vegetation (VegMeasure). He has consulted on rangeland systems worldwide for USAID, UNDP, UNEP, and the World Bank and has conducted research projects for the US Department of Agriculture, US Forest Service, US Bureau of Land Management, and private foundations.
Dr. Johnson teaches Landscape Ecology and Analysis, Range Animal Management, International Range Management, and Grassland & Shrubland Ecology.
