Norman R. Harris

Assistant Professor of Range Science and Management
University of Alaska/ Fairbanks
Landscape Ecology

Dr. Harris has been an Assistant Professor at the University of Alaska/Fairbanks since 2002. He received his BS (1992) in Animal Science at Oregon State University and Ph.D. in Rangeland Management and Ecology at OSU (2001) studying livestock distribution in relation to landscape characteristics.

r. Harris’ research interests center on animal distribution patterns in response to dynamic thermal environments. He specializes in near-earth remote sensing and ecosystem monitoring and has research programs examining stream morphology dynamics and time change analysis of ecosystems using geographic information systems, remote sensing, and global positioning systems technology. He teaches GIS and Remote Sensing for Natural Resources and Introduction to Range Management.
